Thrifted.mt was founded in 2026 by Joshua Fielding, a Malta-based product engineer building the island's first dedicated marketplace for pre-loved fashion. The platform launched with a single goal: make buying and selling secondhand clothing in Malta as simple, safe and rewarding as buying new.

Our Story
Founded in 2026 by Joshua Fielding, Thrifted.mt started with a simple observation: buying and selling second-hand clothes in Malta was harder than it needed to be.
Between coordinating meetups on social media, dealing with unreliable buyers and the lack of a centralized platform dedicated to fashion, meaningful sustainable style felt disconnected from daily life in Malta.
I built Thrifted.mt to solve this — secure in-app payments via Stripe, buyer protection with a 7-day escrow period and a trusted meetup system with QR handover verification, so buying and selling second-hand fashion in Malta feels simple, safe and local.
How Thrifted.mt Works
For Sellers

Upload photos of your item — our AI automatically generates the title, description, category, brand and a suggested price.

Review and publish your listing. There are no listing fees and 0% seller commission — you keep 100% of the sale price.

When your item sells, arrange a meetup or hand in at any MaltaPost or sub-post office for locker delivery. Meetup funds release instantly at QR handover; shipped funds release 48 hours after buyer confirmation or 7 days after drop-off.
For Buyers

Browse or search thousands of pre-loved items across women's, men's and kids' fashion, shoes, bags and accessories.

Purchase securely through Stripe checkout. Your payment is held in escrow until you receive and inspect your item.

Collect via meetup or locker pickup. If the item doesn't match the description, open a dispute within 48 hours.
Our Impact
According to WRAP (the Waste and Resources Action Programme), extending the active life of clothing by just nine months reduces its carbon, water and waste footprint by approximately 20-30%.
In Malta, an estimated 14,000 tonnes of textiles are discarded annually (National Statistics Office, 2023). By making it easy to buy and sell secondhand fashion locally, Thrifted.mt helps divert clothing from landfill and gives garments a second life within the Maltese community.
Every item sold on Thrifted.mt is one less item manufactured, shipped and eventually discarded. The platform tracks the cumulative impact of the community to help sellers and buyers see the difference they're making.
